Big Creek Arboretum
Hays, Kansas -- Master Plan and Signage Detailing
The future loss of trees across the Western Plains region of the United States will impact the region in many ways. A variety of insects and diseases have begun to eliminate much of the tree massing along riparian corridors and farmstead windbreaks. People will have an increased need for hardy and adaptable trees.
The main goal of the proposed Arboretum is to serve as a living example of trees, shrubs, and perennials that not only survive but thrive. Visitors will arrive at the Prairie Star Demostration gardens in Hays, KS. From here, they will be guided onto the walking path which surrounds a wildflower field. As you walk the trail, ever-changing seasonal gardens will be on display. The outdoor spaces will change in dimension and plant selection as you progress around the path. People will be encouraged to spend time learning from the Arboretum.
EPIC Arts Cooperative
Kansas City
A new Clay Arts Studio has opened in Kansas City. The EPIC Arts Cooperative helps unite local children with the Arts. As the redevlopment evolves, various outdoor elements will begin to take shape. A pergola, with a vase-shaped overhead structure, will provide shade for outdoor events. A small, bluestone stage will provide a fixed place for large sculpture or occasional outdoor events. The grassy field adjacent to the patio will serve as addditional space for a large scale sculpture garden and an annual clay arts festival.

Masterplanning, Planting Plans, and Signage
Environmental conditions in western Kansas place tremendous stress on the trees growing here. A comprehensive inventory of existing site conditions was conducted to prepare the campus for future losses to windbreaks and interior campus spaces. New tree varieties, tolerant of the xeric site conditions, will compliment tried & true native species to endure for future generations.

Sigma Kappa Sorority
University of Kansas
The Sorority is located at the University of Kansas, in Lawerence, Kansas. Phase one installation helps screen views between an enlarged parking lot and occupant rooms. An outdoor study alcove was also provided.
Phase two anticipates a complete renovation of the streetside views. Landscape material and massing have been chosen in a fashion befitting of the architectural style.
